Has anyone tried this app? www.med.monash.edu/cecs/gastro/fodmap/docs/user-guide.pdfIt looks like it could be great -- it has a database of 350 foods and it displays a green, yellow, or red light to indicate how the food should be tolerated. Of course, the issue that I always run into is that something that should be tolerated well, like kiwi, simply doesn't work for my daughter. In this app, there is a section on "My Filters" where you can slide an indicator from no sensitivity to high sensitivity -- and then all foods will be green lighted based on YOUR reactions instead of the FM population at large. There is a section with recipes and another with a One Week Challenge. During the one-week challenge, you can monitor your gastrointestinal symptoms on a sliding scale ("excellent, not at all" to "the worst it's been, really awful") -- which can be really handy for parents of FM sufferers. It may be an easy way to get the kids involved in tracking their own symptoms. Then at the end of the week, you can print out the journal for doctor or nutritionist visits. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it if works well. Before making the plunge, I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet...

Wow, well found. If it works then the price has got to be worth it, I will read more into it, I do just wonder though is it based on american foods and would not be as useful in another country, also does it include fructans as from my research I can see that maybe fructans are more of a problem than I realised. Does anyone else have any ideas on it.

It says that the app has the Monash Low FODMAP Diet book so I'm guessing that the app would contain the same information. I don't recall it being particularly geared towards the US. And in one of the photos of the app, it shows that it has "Bircher Muesli" for Day One on the Challenge. I assure you that is not a common US breakfast -- my grocer has Muesli in the International foods. Bwahahaha!
Another photo shows that under the list of foods, it has info about Cereals. I suppose that could be tracking High Fructose Corn Syrup, but I don't think many places outside the US puts HFCS is all their products. Sigh. I'm assuming that cereals would be tracking fructans, but who knows...
I'm really strange about this stuff -- I didn't hesitate to buy the FODMAP diet book for $25, but I'm debating a $10 app that has three times the use. Weird!

No, the problem is where do you stop shelling out on this book here, that book there and keep finding it isn't really what you need.
