Hello and welcome,
This board has been started by myself as a mother of a young child with fructose malabsorption. Having found that there is very little information about the condition to be found in England on the NHS I started using the internet as a means of finding out what was wrong with her and came across a fabulous proboard about Hereditory Fructose Intolerance which was an absolute lifesaver and sanity saver at that time 5 years ago. Since then she has been properly diagnosed as having Fructose Malabsorption which is a completely different condition so I thought it was time to start this board as the diets and advice are different.
Hopefully, over time, as this board grows we will all get to know more about this condition and what foods do and don't suit. Please use this board carefully, I am not a doctor, I am a mother with experience so this should not be used as an alternative to proper medical diagnosis and treatment.
When you start on this board please take you time to read posts first to see if there are answers to your questions and then post accordingly. This saves alot of board clogging with repeats. Use the introductions page to tell us a bit about yourself, which country you are in (as diagnostic processes are different as are food names). This means people can check back about who you or your child are if they are answering your questions. It just saves alot of repeats By all means start browsing as a guest but if you feel you have something to add you will get more from the board by joining, it is free and means you can contact members privately as well if you want to have a private discussion. Please be respectful of others opinions, even if they are don't agree with yours and remember that some people may be at the end of their tether and exhausted when they come across this board in their quest for answers. ( I certainly was when I started on the HFI board)
Anyway, that is the bossy bit out of the way. Welcome and enjoy the board. Please feel free to message me to suggest sections and ideas to this board as I am new to hosting one. I hope the colourscheme is OK, my daughter has helped choose it!!
